Therapy for Neurodiverse Teens & Young Adults
Having Autism Spectrum Disorder or another neurodiversity can be challenging. You feel like you have a hard time fitting in, making friends, and really understanding what other people's intentions are. You are constantly bombarded with all this social "stuff," and you don't know what to do with it.
Not to mention your anxiety is always through the roof, and you are tired of feeling like no one understands what you're going through. You're exhausted about feeling overwhelmed, and perhaps your parents don't know what to do anymore. You've tried regular talk therapy and nothing seems to have works. You're at a dead-end, and you need someone who gets you. Someone who understands that you need a different type of therapy.
You've come to the right place...
Finding a therapist that understands you can be tough, but I'm happy you're on my page trying to figure out if I'm the right therapist for you. Whether you are struggling with anxiety or social skills, I have helped individuals like you live better lives. Imagine making new friends, and keeping them, or engaging with individuals in the classroom or at work. Imagine not worrying about interacting with others and feeling more confident. Your parents are so amazed at what you are doing these days and don't worry as much about you anymore.
Meet Monica Wells, LMHC
I'm so glad you're here. I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Huntington, NY. I've been working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and other social learning disorders since 2011.
I know the teen and young adult years bring a host of difficulties for individuals with neurodiversities. Still, those difficulties aren't anything you can't handle without a little guidance, help, and support.
Yes, you will need to do some work. Yes, you will need to be vulnerable, and yes, you will need to step out of your comfort zone, but you don't have to do it alone!
